LOTUS - Thai Massage Courses

Update - September, 2006:

Begining September 16, 2006, courses in Yokohama will be temporarily suspended while I return to Chiangmai, Thailand.  While my stay may be long, I will be offering private tutoring and practice to anyone who wants additional help in their study of Thai Massage in the Chiangmai area.

Traditional Thai Massage intensive courses will be held at various times throughout the year.  The courses taught will be the same techniques taught by ITM and the Old medical hospital in Chiang Mai, providing the practical skills necessary to perform the Art of Thai Massage in the traditional Northern style of Thailand.

The CrewThe basic courses; LEVEL I - Introduction to Thai Massage and LEVEL  II - Intermediate Thai Massage, will be taught as 5 day (1 week) courses.  In these courses, students are encouraged to develop their intuitive sense as the use of Western anatomical terms will be kept to a minimum. Classes will be small, giving individuals complete training and personal attention.  Private lessons also planned to be held will be available upon request (a minimum of two people are required).

Additionaly, private or group lessons will be planned for various locations throughout Japan and will include accomodation and meals at some of my favourite Bed & Breakfast's overlooking some of the most beautiful scenery in Japan.

LOTUS - Course Outline

LEVEL I -Introduction to Thai Massage (30 hrs, 5 days)

This course is the foundation of professional Thai massage. The concepts of meridians,  energy lines and acupressure points are introduced as a way to move and release energy within the body.  The course covers practical aspects of the stretches, acupressure points, proper use of body weight, and teaches the proper techniques of using thumbs, palms, elbows, and feet. Additional emphasis is placed on deep, abdominal (Hara) massage.

At the end of this course, students will be able to perform a 1½ hour massage treatment covering the front and back parts of the body.

LEVEL II: Intermediate Thai Massage (30 hrs, 5 days)

Level II builds upon Level I through deeper knowledge of the massage techniques as well as additional work using using the knees and fists. Practising Level IIMore emphasis is placed on the sides, with additional work on the back, and sitting positions.  as well as learning advanced stretching positions.

Upon completion of Level I and II, students will have a strong understanding of the 134 major positions of Thai Massage and the skills to perform a full body traditional Thai massage of up to 3 hrs long.
